In the current global macroeconomic context characterised by emerging risks including inflation, volatility, and rising interest rates, this session intends to discuss the implications of these challenges for the resilience of the Islamic financial services industry (IFSI) and critical areas for monitoring, along with policy challenges, international spill overs, and their broader ramifications for the stability and resilience of the IFSI.
This session aims to highlight the following:
Global macroeconomic risks including inflation, volatility, and rising interest rates and build-up of financial sector vulnerabilities.
Implications of the emerging global risks for the resilience of the Islamic finance industry and critical areas for monitoring by authorities to safeguard financial stability
Policy challenges and prospects, international spillovers, and implications for the Islamic finance industry
Discussion Questions:
What are the key policy challenges faced in maintaining or strengthening financial stability within the IFSI amidst the current macroeconomic uncertainties? What are the implications of potential international spillover effects for the IFSI?
How can the IFSI be better prepared to minimise potential impacts from international spillover effects?
